After the toasts were given, it was time to get started on lunch! For our lunch music, we wanted sounds that reminded us of the ambiance of one of our favorite places to relax at the Disneyland Resort, which is the Wine Country Trattoria restaurant. Our DJ, Pat with Sound Prodigy, found lots of great music that matched exactly what we were looking for! He mixed that up with instrumentals of Disney classics and the music was perfect. Our DJ also gave us the playlist so I can now listen to our wedding lunch music whenever I like!
First the bread basket and butter came out. I was hungry but still felt kind of nervous so we skipped eating the bread. But one of my favorite moments of the entire day happened at this point. For some reason, Mr. BFT starting sticking our little castle confetti in the butter. I was feeling pretty delirious at this point and just thought this was the funniest thing I had ever seen. It sounds so stupid but this was one of the best moments of the day. Just me and my husband being silly together.
During lunch, we were kind enough to give our photographers The Roots a break, so we don’t have any pro pics of the food. So I want to thank my friend Hope for taking these pictures (and making me hungry all over again!)
Our first course was a salad – Petite Mache, Young Frisee, Sun-Dried Cherries, Toasted Pecans, Port Wine Glaze, and Shallot Lime Vinaigrette.
As an intermezzo, we had a pink raspberry champagne sorbet in a martini glass!
The reason I really wanted a sorbet intermezzo was because I had this once at Club 33 and I thought it was super classy. Then we had it again during dinner at PALO aboard the Disney Wonder cruise ship. So to me, sorbet intermezzo = fancy pants.
Our main course was the Braised Short Ribs & Roasted Chicken Breast with Cilantro Pesto Cream Sauce, with garlic mashed potatoes and assorted vegetables. We splurged on the duet plate after fellow Disneyland bride Cynthia told me how amazing the short ribs are. I’m so happy we chose this dish. It was the best wedding meal I’ve ever had (but I might be slightly biased).
Everyone kind of lost their minds.
(This photo of Grandma smiling at Mickey and Minnie makes them worth every penny.)
But wait! We had one more surprise guest. This one really was a surprise … to everyone but me. Mr. BFT’s favorite Disney character is Donald Duck so I surprised him with Donald. Aren’t I the best wifey?
Donald was such a ham and a trouble maker! He would butt into photos and was just generally silly. The way the three characters interacted with each other was really fun.
The entrance of the special guests meant it was time to cut the cake!
Grandma got some extra attention from Mickey.
And Mr. BFT’s aunt even got a personal dance.
Too soon it was time to say goodbye to our special guests, but we were sure happy they could stop by for a bit!
