St. Patrick's Day at The Disneyland Resort // Budget Fairy Tale

Who loves St. Patrick’s Day?! *waves arms* Put a pile of corned beef in front of me and I will out eat any one of you (but you can keep the hash, thanks). And even though I can’t consume green beer, I love an excuse to order an appletini. Last year on St. Patrick’s Day, Mr. BFT and I tried to go to a local pub for dinner and drinks and the place was packed. We waited and waited and waited for a table to open in the bar area, and then we waited and waited and waited for the server who never came. So we decided to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day next door at the Moroccan restaurant. Guess what, the place was empty and we had non-green drinks and kabobs within 10 minutes. It was awesome.

If you’re headed to The Disneyland Resort this weekend or on Monday, Downtown Disney has some festive foodie offerings for you to enjoy.

St. Patrick’s Day at The Disneyland Resort

Let’s start simple. Friday through Monday, you can get the St. Patrick’s Day staple – corned beef and green beer – at the following locations: Catal & Uva Bar, House of Blues, La Brea Bakery and Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen. ESPN Zone will also offer green beer and a special St. Patrick’s Day cocktail, with corned beef and cabbage on Monday only.

Aside from the traditional fare, Catal & Uva Bar will also be offering the following specialty items:

  • Guinness Beer and Irish Cheddar dip
  • Potato leek soup with Dubliner grilled cheese and whiskey-scented crème fraiche
  • Black and Tan battered fish and chips
  • Corned beef on rye with Irish potato salad and whiskey bread pudding with stout gelato and Jameson crème anglaise(!)
  • Beer Special (Blue Moon Witbier with Bitter Truth Violet Liqueur) and Green Jello Shots in assorted flavors (UVA Bar only).

The VooDoo Lounge at House of Blues will offer specials on Guinness, Jameson, and green beer.

If you wish you could have corned beef for breakfast, head to La Brea bakery for their special corned beef hash and eggs breakfast. They will also offer a lunch special of a Reuben on rye bread with corned beef, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island slaw, and a special classic corned beef and cabbage dinner. BEEF!

If Irish step dancing is your thing (and after a few Green Jell-o Shots, it’s everyone’s thing), The Molly Condon Irish Dance Company and Irish hammer dulicmer musician Scott Williams will be performing at the Downtown Disney stage near ESPN Zone Saturday through Monday.

World of Disney will no doubt have some special St. Patrick’s Day merch. If anyone sees a leprechaun Duffy, let me know!

I’m not sure I’ll make it to Downtown Disney this weekend so if you go, be sure to tag me (@fairytalemindy) in your Instagram food and booze pictures so I can celebrate with you virtually.
