I’m partnering with Occidental Grand Xcaret to experience their resort at a discounted media rate. As always, all of the opinions expressed here are my own.
In less than a couple weeks, I’ll be sunning myself by the pool in Mexico! I’m so excited!
Towards the end of last year, Mr. BFT’s family brought up the idea of going on a trip to celebrate my father-in-law’s 70th birthday. Definitely a milestone worthy of a big to-do! We narrowed it down to Walt Disney World, the Caribbean, and the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. Ultimately he chose Mexico, so I set out to research all-inclusive resorts. Cancun is famously a party scene, and with my two nieces under four years old, we were looking for something family friendly. I remembered my visit to Cancun about 15 years ago, and the highlight for me was visiting Xcaret eco-archaeological park which is about an hour drive south from Cancun. I discovered Xcaret park is still open, AND they have their own all-inclusive resort adjacent to the park. Perfect! I “pitched” a couple resorts in that area, including Occidental Grand Xcaret, and everyone agreed it seemed like the best option for all of us.
Why Occidental Grand Xcaret?
Occidental Grand Xcaret is located about 60 km south of Cancun and 6 km south of Playa del Carmen. We liked that the resort is secluded from the party atmosphere of Cancun but close to Playa del Carmen in case we wanted to go into a big city. Most likely we will simply stay on the resort property the entire trip since it seems so fabulous! The resort has 11 restaurants, plenty of bars, 5 pools, and it’s own small beach. Honestly for a Mexico vacation I just need a pool and a tropical adult beverage in my hand.
Occidental Grand Xcaret and Xcaret park are located in the jungle, which means animal sightings! Past guests have reported seeing monkeys, deer, parrots, and flamingos on the property. The beach cove at Occidental Grand Xcaret is also ideal for snorkeling, so that is definitely on my list of things to do. In between suntanning and umbrella drinks, of course.
Our family will be visiting in early May and we will even be in Mexico for Cinco de Mayo! I cannot wait to arrive, and eat and drink myself silly.
Have you ever visited the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico?
