Less than a mile from Disneyland Resort sits one of the newest hotels in the area, the JW Marriott, Anaheim Resort. This hotel, which opened in 2020, offers a luxury travel experience just steps away from the front gates of Disneyland. While families may benefit from staying at a closer hotel with less frills, I found the JW Marriott perfect for an adults-only getaway. Highlights for me were the friendly staff, the yummy food, and the rooftop bar. Oh, and I earned Marriott Bonvoy points! What more can you ask for?

JW Marriott Anaheim Resort Review

Hotel Details

JW Marriott, Anaheim Resort is a AAA Four Diamond luxury hotel located approximately half a mile from the front entrance to Disneyland Resort. Because the hotel opened in August 2020, it still feels new and modern, with all the best amenities and offerings. I really enjoyed my stay there and while the walk to Disneyland may be a little longer than staying right across the street on Harbor Blvd, the spaciousness of the JW Marriott makes up for it.

Hotel Grounds

One very cool aspect of the JW Marriott is their outdoor garden on the second floor, which features an augmented reality sculpture garden that just kinda has to be seen to understand. But the real luxury is the plentiful outdoor lounging space; plenty of areas to sit and drink your morning coffee before starting your day.

The garden section also offers an exclusive pathway into Anaheim Gardenwalk for dining and nightlife!

Rooms

I stayed in a Deluxe King guest room, which was perfect for two people. The room was clean and beautiful. I do wish the floor had been laminate instead of carpet, and some more counterspace in the bathroom would have been helpful.

The room had an abundance of outlets and USB ports by the beds, a feature that is very important to me.

A power outlet with a plug attached to it.
A white electronic device with a wooden case.

The rooms include most standard hotel amenities including:

  • Flatscreen TV
  • Mini Fridge
  • Microwave
  • Coffee Maker
  • Iron and Ironing Board
  • Hairdryer
  • Robe and Slippers
  • Toiletries

Suites

Several different suites are available, including the luxurious Presidential Suite which offers more than 1700 square feet of living space.

Pools and Amenities

The outdoor swimming pool is heated year-round and includes day beds and cabanas for rent. Food and drink is available from the pool bar. The pool area is rather small and the pool itself is pretty basic, but the vibes are nice.

Dining

There are four dining options at JW Marriott, Anaheim Resort. I had a quick lunch at Citriculture, which is an indoor/outdoor casual dining spot near the pool.

A sandwich on an orange plate with sweet potato fries.

I have also visited Parkestry, the rooftop bar, on several occasions and have always had a wonderful time. Great drinks and fun views of the Disneyland fireworks (when they are happening).

There also an upscale Italian chophouse, and the JW Market for “on the go” items.

Parking

There is no self parking at JW Marriott, only pricey valet parking. However, guests may park overnight at GardenWalk, which is marked as being 0.1 miles away.

Weddings and Events

JW Marriott, Anaheim Resort has amble ballroom space for conferences, and even an outdoor patio in the Serenity Garden for secluded wedding ceremonies. Weddings and Events can be catered right on property.

Summary

I really enjoyed my stay at JW Marriott, Anaheim Resort and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again if the opportunity arises. The only downside for me is the lack of on-site self parking, and the longer walk to Disneyland. However, the rooftop bar is a nice way to end a theme park day, and I really enjoyed my lunch after checking out of my room.
