Holiday Drinks at Trader Sam’s!

One of my favorite things about the Holiday season at Disneyland is the special food and drinks they offer.  My #1 favorite is the Peppermint Ice Cream and Candy Cane Waffle Cone at Gibson Girl, but that’s not what this post is about (it’s just what I’m thinking about 95.4% of the day).

This post is about my new favorite place at the Resort – Trader Sam’s at the Disneyland Hotel!  Trader Sam’s is a Jungle Cruise themed tiki bar that just opened a few months ago as part of the massive Disneyland Hotel remodel.  They have great drinks and great snacks!

A couple weeks ago I went with some friends to check out their holiday offerings – the Red Nosed Zebra and the Mele Kaliki-Mocha.  The Red Nosed Zebra is a rum + strawberry drink and the Mele Kaliki-Mocha is a Kahlua + coffee drink.  They both sounded really good and I would have loved to have tried both, but I went with the Red Nosed Zebra, and I’m glad I did!  It was SUPER YUMMY.  THE YUMMIEST.

AND THE CUTEST.  OMG, DO YOU SEE???? It’s a reindeer!  (You see, there are no reindeer on the Jungle Cruise, so they named it after the zebra … it took me a while to figure that one out, so I thought I would share in case any of my readers are slow, like me [which means I love you even more]).

And now, as of today, the recipes for both drinks are available on the Disney Parks Blog!  Happy Holidays!

Recipe from the Disney Parks Blog

1.5 ounces Bacardi 8 rum
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce agave nectar
1 ounce strawberry purée
Crushed ice, 3 cranberries, 2 mint sprigs, for garnish

  1. Add all ingredients in a Boston Shaker (except garnish), fill half full with ice, and shake vigorously for 10 seconds.
  2. Strain into a margarita glass filled with ice. Garnish with a mound of crushed ice, cranberries, and mint sprigs to look like 2 green antlers, cranberries for eyes and nose.
  3. SQUEEEE at the cuteness. (Okay, I added this last step – Ed.)
How many of you have tried the Holiday drinks at Trader Sam’s?  What is your favorite part of the Holiday season at Disneyland?
