The holiday season at Disneyland just got merrier with the addition of the new Jingle Cruise!
The World Famous Jungle Cruise at Disneyland received a holiday makeover for the first time this year. But if you’re expecting the kind of transformation we are used to seeing on Haunted Mansion and It’s a Small World, you might want to lower your expectations a bit.
I was a little disappointed when I realized the Jingle Cruise overlay was 90% in the queue. I wanted to see Christmas lights wrapped around hippo ears and gorillas wearing Santa hats. Nope. None of that.
What I did see was pretty fun, though. Lots of holiday decor in the queue, skippers wearing khaki Santa hats, and the boats had new names – ours was Ucayali Egg Nog. (The Ucayali is a river in Peru – thanks Wikipedia!)
The skippers threw a few Christmas and Hannukah jokes into their shpiel, and of course the classic crocodile joke – “Watch out for Ginger, she snaps,” – needs no holiday punch up.
Since this is the first year, I would certainly recommend this as a “must see” if you are visiting Disneyland for the holidays. Even though it’s simplistic, it’s a happy overlay for a classic ride that made me smile.
