Mindy Versus the Wedding Dress Industry – Part Three

While I’m away relaxing during our Disneyland mini-moon, please enjoy an entire week of these embarrassing photos of me trying on gowns!

OKAY!  My wedding is, like, over, so it’s time to breeze through these wedding dress rejects.  I went to six bridal salons and tried on approximately 50 dresses before finding “THE DRESS,” and yes, it was as brutal as it sounds.

Dress shop #3 was Alfred Angelo.  I went here for two reasons: 1) They were having a $99 dress sale, and what budget bride can resist that, and 2) the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings gowns, duh.  None of them really struck my fancy online but since I was already there for the sale, I couldn’t resist trying a couple on.  I was disappointed to find out they only had three of the styles in my size, or else you know I would have tried them on.

DRESS SHOPPING ROUND THREE. Mindy vs the Wedding Dress Industry.

(Sorry, once again I don’t have item numbers for the first two gowns but they are discontinued anyway.  Also, these pictures were taken by Mr. BFT who couldn’t be bothered with standing up, which is why I the angle is so unflattering.  I’m full of excuses today, aren’t I?)

Dress #19

There were two dresses I liked on the $99 rack and this was one of them.  I loved the pink and the sweet bow on the back.  But the lace turned me way off.

Dress #20

I seem a bit happier in this photo.  I picked this gown off the rack because I thought the color was interesting.  But it didn’t quite flatter my skin tone and the dress was a bit boring for my style.

Dress #21 – Snow White Style #207

Snow White was one of the three dresses they had in my size but, wow, it looked awful on me.  Not flattering at all. Which was a major bummer because I really loved the flowered bodice in person.

Dress #22 – Ariel Style 201

I am a fan of mermaid shaped gowns so I was excited to try on Ariel.  Since we didn’t have an appointment, we didn’t have a bridal consultant to help us, which is fine for zipper dresses, but not so great for corset gowns.  Mr. BFT tried the best he could, but this dress could have looked a lot better on me (and yes, it was difficult to walk).

Dress #23 – Tiana Style 204

As we got to the last gown of the visit, a consultant was freed up and came to my rescue.  She got me in this dress good and tight, and this ended up being my favorite gown of the visit.  I really loved the bodice and tiny shoulder strap (covered by my hair) but couldn’t get over the giant ruffle in the skirt.  So, this was a no for me.  The search sadly had to be continued!

What did you all think of the AA gowns I tried on?  Would you rock any of these?
