Hey everyone! I hope your 2014 is of to a wonderful start!
You may have noticed some changes here on Budget Fairy Tale. I finally made the move to WordPress! It has been a long time coming, and all my other blogs have already made the move. It only made sense to get it done in time for a fresh new year!
And a new year calls for a new look. I loved my old header and Storybook font but I have been dreaming of something cleaner and sleeker for a while. I found this font, Jenna Sue, which is free for personal and commercial use, and felt it was really fun and fresh (like me, haha). Believe it or not, it was Mr. BFT’s idea to add the Hidden Mickey over the “i.” That was a total why-didn’t-I-think-of-that moment. Did I marry wisely, or what?!?
Our new hummingbird logo was created by fellow Disneyland Bride and friend Katie Mitchell (HUGE THANK YOUS KATIE)! I decided on a hummingbird for my logo after watching two hummingbirds hatch from eggs outside our old apartment last year. I was fascinated by them, and if you follow me on Instragram you know I took a million and one pictures! I loved watching mama creating the nest, then tiny eggs, then itty bitty fuzzy babies, then next thing I knew they were fully grown and leaving the nest. What a transformation! I thought the busy hummingbird would make a good icon for me in 2014.
Other than that, our layout is pretty much the same! If you used to follow BFT through Google Friend Connect you may have to find another way to stay up-to-date. I recommend subscribing to our RSS feed or following on Bloglovin’!
The site will be a work in progress for a while, so please let me know if you stumble upon anything that isn’t working properly or looks strange.
To kick off 2014, I made a little printable of a quote from one of my favorite songs. Every holiday, no matter what, I have to dust off my Tori Amos Midwinter Graces MP3 and listen to the track Pink and Glitter. That song was made for me, I swear! I hope your new year is filled with lots of pink and glitter!
