YOU GUYS! I just about fell off my chair when I saw these pictures of Walt Disney World Bride Michelle’s Tangled inspired hair-do. So strap yourself in before you scroll down. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
From the bride:
My hairstyle for the wedding day was inspired by Rapunzel from Disney’s Animated Feature, Tangled. It didn’t exactly start out that way, as I was having a country, rustic themed wedding, but as soon as I saw that movie, I fell in love. Lucky for me, the movie came out during the earlier stages of my wedding planning and I easly got to incorporate small touches that wouldn’t detract from my original theme but help add to it. I wasn’t going for an exact replication but something with my own personal touch and a modern twist.
My original thought was to have a side braid with a big white flower on the side and I ordered a gorgeous one from a maker on Etsy. However, the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to have my hair more unique. Rapunzel, at one point in the movie, had her hair braided with a bunch of smaller flowers woven in so I contacted the seller Lo Boheme on Etsy that I purchased my orginal flower from, and I asked if they would make me 8 smaller replicas so I could weave them in to my hair. (This is a fantastic seller. I would highly recommend them to anyone!)
When I visited Orlando for my planning session a few months before the wedding, I also set up a trial for my hair and make up with Patricia Lejeune. (She has a wonderful reputation with Disney Brides). I explained to Patrica about the theme of my wedding and how I was trying to incorporate a few things from Tangled into it and how I wanted my hair to be like Rapunzel. Patricia had not yet seen the movie but we were able to come up with a plan. She would curl my hair, creating a lot of volume on the top, and then kind of weave the pony tail part into a pseudo braid (not an actual one because that would take up the length of my hair and make it shorter) and then she would place the flowers through out.
I did end up changing the style a bit the day of the wedding by having Patiricia add an actual braid to the crown of my head. My original thought was for the braid to go around the complete crown but I liked what she did so much that I had her leave it as it was!
Patricia created a beautiful hair-do that recieved lots of compliments and lasted through the heat and humidity. It was a record breaking 92 degrees that day; pretty crazy for only being the second day of April. If you’re getting married or having a special event in the Orlando area I would highly recommend Patricia Lejeune. She was a pleasure to work with.
