Hey there, and happy Tuesday! Welcome to a new feature on Budget Fairy Tale: Disneyland Wedding Venue Spotlights! My goal is to craft a reference post for each ceremony and reception venue at the Disneyland Resort hotels, featuring images, maps, videos, and answers to frequently asked questions. This will hopefully be a helpful virtual tour for those of you who are at the beginning stages of planning of your Disneyland wedding and can’t make it to Disneyland for a site tour, or perhaps you’re just really excited for your site tour and want to get a head start!
Something I hear a lot from planning couples is that the information on the official Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings website is helpful, but they would like to see “candid” photos of the venues. Staged photos are nice, but often they show elaborate decor and let’s get real, not everyone can afford that! And also, how old are those stock photos? They could have been taken last week or several years ago! Since I live so close to Disneyland, I am happy to go and take pictures if I have access to the venue and show you how it looks right now.
My first spotlight is for the Adventure Lawn Gazebo. I picked this location because I feel it’s a really special corner of The Disneyland Hotel and not enough people utilize it!
Location: The Adventure Lawn Gazebo is located at the Southeast corner of The Disneyland Hotel grounds, just east of the Frontier Tower and south of the Rose Court Garden. To the east of the Adventure Lawn Gazebo is the self-parking lot for Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and the Paradise Pier Hotel.
This small gazebo is used for Escape wedding ceremonies, and is the only advertised Escape ceremony location at The Disneyland Hotel. Just recently they added a little aisle, which looks really great! I know a big concern in the past was walking through grass with your long gown and heels and such.
I recently recorded a short video at the Adventure Lawn Gazebo, because sometimes it helps to see a person walking around the venue! This is my first video EVER and I’m super nervous about sharing it, so hopefully you like it! *Eep*
Here are a few questions I’ve been asked regarding the Adventure Lawn Gazebo:
Is the space small enough so your guests can hear the officiant or will you need a microphone?
In my opinion, you wouldn’t need a microphone at this location. Even though it’s outside, the space is small, and your guests will be fairly close to you. You may have to amplify a bit and cross your fingers that no helicopters fly over, but it should be fine. I don’t think there is electricity running to the Adventure Lawn Gazebo so you wouldn’t be able to have a microphone on a stand, even if you wanted one. That being said, I am trying to find the definitive answer to this. This is the only spotlight I can find involving the Adventure Lawn Gazebo, and I do not see a mic stand in their ceremony images: http://whiterabbitphotoboutique.com/blog/2012/11/disneyfairytaleweddings/
The venue is adjacent to a parking lot. Is it noisy? Can people walking by see you?
It’s true the venue is very close to the parking lot for the DRC building, and the small parking lot is only used for employees and visitors. It is not very busy and has minimal traffic coming in and out. I have spent limited time in the area of the Adventure Lawn Gazebo but in my opinion it is not a noisy area. As far as the pathway connected to the aisle, Disney will put up “Fairy Tale Wedding Unfolding” signs to block the path, and this should discourage random people from walking by.
What happens if it rains?
As with all outside ceremony venues, Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings always has an indoor back-up location available if it seems the weather might be less than cooperative.
Can you add decor to the gazebo?
Yes! Decor is not included in the base price for the Escape wedding package, but you can add it for an additional fee. Below are the ONLY decor options available for ALL Escape ceremony locations (prices are subject to change at any time):
- Gazebo/Terrace Medium Cluster of Seasonal Flowers – $325 inclusive
- Relocation fee to move cluster to reception area – an additional $75 inclusive
- Rose Petals Scattered on Aisle – $150 inclusive
The floral and petals will be the colors of your choice – for example, if your wedding colors are yellow and purple, you can request yellow and/or purple flowers or petals. The types of flowers included depend on the season and availability. Please don’t expect to have roses flown in from Ecuador for your Escape wedding ceremony!
As a guest can you see the couple and the officiant or is the view obstructed?
Yes. The officiant stands on the step of the gazebo and the couple stands right at the start of the aisle. The location is intimate enough that your 18 guests will be able to see and hear everything.
Here is a picture by Beverly Hills Photography that shows the guest chairs.
As far as reception venues, you could have your reception at the Mark Twain room in the Frontier Tower, just a short walk from the Adventure Lawn Gazebo. You could also have an outside reception on the other side of the pathway on the Adventure Lawn! Or, you could cross the street to Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and have your reception at the gorgeous Wisteria Room.
I hope this answers some questions you might have about this wonderful little venue for Escape ceremonies. If you have additional questions, please leave a comment and I will try my best to answer!
