The Disneyland Resort may not be hosting RunDisney events any time soon, but don’t hang up your running shoes just yet.
This week, RunDisney announced the Star Wars Virtual Half Marathon, a replacement of sorts for the Star Wars Light Side race that used to take place in January at The Disneyland Resort.
For the bargain price of $59, you can register for this virtual race and run 13.1 miles any time between now and March 31, 2018. You don’t even have to run all 13.1 miles on the same day – just rack them up over the three month period and you’ll earn your “one-of-a-kind” Star Wars-themed medal.
And, if you’re signed up for the Star Wars Dark Side Half Marathon at Walt Disney World, you can complete both and still earn your Kessel Run Challenge medal for an additional $10. Pretty cool!
I know a lot of people were bummed to lose these special coast-to-coast medals, and it’s nice to see RunDisney making efforts to give runners a chance to continue to earn them.

The Star Wars Virtual Half Marathon lets you run at your own pace, on your own course! This virtual race is the perfect way to get experience running the half marathon distance or train for an upcoming runDisney race from home—on a treadmill, in your neighborhood or any course you choose!
Registration Dates: January 3 – February 28, 2018
Completion Timeframe: January 3 – March 31, 2018
