Okay, I have a confession to make … for a while I was posting a lot of Disney baby stuff, and it didn’t really get a lot of views. So I turned my focus back to Disney weddings because I know y’all LOVE your Disney weddings (and I don’t blame you). BUT, I was going back through emails the other day and I found this submission of little Mauricio, and I just HAD to share it because he is just TOO CUTE.
Maurico’s mom Jessica tells us a little about his adorable first birthday celebration:
It is no secret I am a Mickey lover. I share my greatest memories as a child and grownup in Walt Disney World. I was also married there, went twice while I was pregnant, and will be taking Mauricio for his first trip later this year. There was no doubt that I wanted his cake smash to be Mickey Mouse themed, considering he wears something with Mickey Mouse on it almost every day of his life. But for his cake smash, I didn’t want the typical Mickey Mouse photo shoot. Having a design background, I had to have something different, something unique, something no one else has. That’s how I came up with this gold, black, and white Mickey mouse design and I ran with it. Mauricio approved in his own way by dancing and singing along to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse while I was sewing every day, working on his outfit. This was indeed a budget-friendly shoot. Sessions like this can run in the $400+ range where we live. My cousin likes to take pictures as a hobby, so we had a few ideas and this is how it turned out. The cake originally was a Pinterest fail, so when in doubt I covered it in sparkly sprinkles and no one would never know. The cake stand was a Dollar Store DIY that cost me $3 to make; same with the cake topper. The outfit was more time consuming but all made by me including the hat and shoes. I stamped gold dots on the fabric to make Mickey shapes. The only part of his outfit didn’t make was the bow-tie, which was $5 at H&M. We are so happy with how it all turned out!
Jessica actually sells handmade rompers for babies and toddlers in her Etsy shop, Ena’s Bazaar. She has a vast array of Disney fabrics to choose from, so go check out her shop if you’re looking for a cute, original outfit for your baby’s cake smash photo shoot!
