Disney’s newest movie, The Lion King, is in theaters today! This “live action” remake is truly breathtaking and feels more like a nature documentary than a computer generated film – it has to be seen to be believed! You can read my movie review for The Lion King here.
I’ve always thought the rich colors and beautiful scenery of The Lion King would make for an excellent wedding theme. I tried to draw on the rich colors of the opening sunrise scene, and included lots of earthy, natural elements. I hope you enjoy this inspiration board I put together using images from real Disney weddings!

I mean … what’s better for a The Lion King themed wedding than a ceremony in front of The Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom? Especially with that Savannah projection on the tree, wow!! It’s simply perfection.
Bring the outdoors inside with natural elements on your reception tables. This is a little more tropical in theme, but you can easily create a lush jungle setting worthy of Timon and Pumbaa by adding some moss on the branches and deep red florals.
Name your tables after pivotal moments of the movie! “Can You Feel the Love” is the obvious one, but how about “Circle of Life,” “Remember Who You Are,” and “Spirit” as additional choices?
As far as other The Lion King elements for your wedding day, you can walk down the aisle to “Circle of Life,” have a cake that resembles the sunrise, and serve traditional African dishes at your reception (look to Walt Disney World restaurants like Sanaa and Boma for inspiration)!
