I received the most magical email on Friday!
There I was, minding my own business in the checkout line at Lowes. I was picking up some wood and contact paper to make my own photo backdrops … you know, typical blogger stuff. I had been running errands for a couple hours and decided to check my email while waiting in the long line. And when I pulled up my email, well, I couldn’t believe what I saw!
My very own invite to the most exclusive blogger conference of the year if you’re a Disney fan … the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration!
I kind of looked at it in shock for a few seconds, then quickly (and with very shaky hands) texted my husband. When I reached the front of the line, the checkout lady seemed quite concerned about me …. I simply told her I was really excited about contact paper. Like, really.
I got to my car and sat in the drivers seat and read over the email a couple times, just to make sure it was really happening. Yes! I really did receive an invite!
What is the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration and why is it such a big deal to me? Here is the event description right from the conference website:
Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, is an invitation only conference for social media minded moms and dads. This professional conference takes place each spring at Disney Parks.
The Disney Social Media Moms Celebration was created as one of the first family-friendly conferences where social media savvy moms and dads can network, learn, and share knowledge of social media while experiencing the magic of Disney with their families. Our goal is to provide an intimate experience packed with access to industry leaders and opportunities to network with peers.
Now in its sixth year, this year’s event will take place at Walt Disney World in early May 2015. I have been watching the conference excitement via social media for the last couple years and wondering if I could ever be chosen to attend such a magical event. Last year I made it a goal to make my absolute best effort to get noticed (including attending the “On the Road” event and hosting an @ Home Celebration) and prove that, even though I don’t fit the typical parent blogger profile, I *do* love Disney and I do have influence … I guess it worked! I feel so lucky to have been among the 200 or so bloggers chosen for the 2015 event. Even better is that a lot of the blogging friends I’ve made over the past year will be going to! I can’t wait to share this experience with them. Disney bloggers are the best.
What else does this conference mean to me? It will be my FIRST trip to Walt Disney World! FINALLY!!! I can’t believe I’m going to Walt Disney World after dreaming about it for so long! I will be staying for three nights at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort as part of the conference, but I’m thinking of extending my trip and staying another two or three nights. Where should I stay for the second leg of my trip? What are some things I can’t miss? I feel excited and overwhelmed about everything … but mostly excited! Every time I think about walking down Main Street USA at Magic Kingdom and seeing Cinderella’s Castle, I get teary eyed!
