I’m so excited that after years and years of dreaming of this trip, I am finally going on an Alaska cruise! Since Mr. BFT started his new job in March he was told he would get a summer vacation and the first thing we thought of was ALASKA CRUISE because they only run during the summer months and usually Mr. BFT is always working during the summer. At first we were told the vacation would be around Fourth of July, so we waited and waited … but no vacation. Then we were told the end of July, then the beginning of August. But now, we have official dates and we quickly booked a cruise for the end of August! It wasn’t intentional but we ended up on Norwegian again. They had the best option for our dates and we loved the itinerary. So we will be sailing on the Norwegian Sun through Glacier Bay and Alaska’s inside passage! Here’s our itinerary:
Embark in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Sail through Glacier Bay
Sail past Hubbard Glacier
Disembark in Whittier, Alaska
Two days in Anchorage, Alaska

I’m so excited to go on this trip! I have it on my Life List to stand on a glacier and we are researching ways to make it possible! Aside from that I would love to see sled dogs (mushing) and also whale watching. But mostly I’m just excited to be back on a cruise ship, and eat and drink everything in sight!
The Norwegian Sun appears to be a smaller, older ship, just like the Spirit which is the ship we sailed on for our honeymoon. We really liked being on a smaller ship. The Sun was refurbished just a couple years ago so it has some of the newer restaurants and amenities. I’m really looking forward to it! Only after spending two weeks on the Spirit for our honeymoon, a week is going to fly by I’m sure! They will have to drag me off the ship.
I’ll be doing detailed posts on each of the ports as we make our plans, but I’d love to hear from you. Have you been to Alaska? Have you sailed on an Alaskan cruise? What advice do you have for me? What are some “must do’s” in port?
