Disney Bride Lillian, who recently celebrated a Vow Renewal at Shades of Green in Walt Disney World, made her own special Mickey ears veil!  And she was kind enough to put together a tutorial for us.  I love that you can make these ears totally unique!

Supplies needed:

1 hot glue gun and glue sticks
1 party veil/headband combo (this one was from the party section at Walmart)
1 set of Mickey ears
1 thin piece of ribbon
1 larger piece of ribbon for the bow
Optional: stick-on jewels to bling it out

Step 1 –  This particular veil was attached to a headband.  Carefully pull the tulle of the veil apart from the headband.   Set the veil aside.

Step 2 – Take the thin ribbon and add a dab of hot glue to the end of the headband and attach the ribbon.  Start wrapping the ribbon around the headband and every once in a while adding a dab of hot glue to help it stick.  At the end of the headband hot glue into place.  You might want to add some to the outside to to make sure it locks in place.

Step 3 – Slide the veil back onto the headband.  Scrunch it all the way up to the middle of the top of the headband.  Hot glue the edges and a little on the bottom to make sure it stays.

Step 4 – Take the ears off a Mickey ears hat.  Hot glue the ears next to the veil on each side of the headband.

Step 5 –  Take the larger ribbon and cut off about 10 inches of ribbon. Burn the ends of the ribbon to keep them from fraying.  Tie it into a bow (you can find several tutorials online).

Step 6 – Once you have the bow made, hot glue it to the top of the headband between the ears and hold in place a few seconds until it dries.

Step 7 – (Optional.)  Add some sticky gems to the ears to make them a bit more flashy if you want.

It took me about 10 minutes to make them.  I figured since they are supposed to be hard to find I would make my own.  Plus I’m not a typical bride since we did a vow renewal bride and I wanted something a bit different and special.

Thanks so much Lillian!  This DIY veil headband is a great alternative if you can’t get your hands on the white bridal ears sold at the Disney parks, or you want something a little different.  And I love that you can completely customize it with your own colors!
