Disneyland’s third 24 hour party kicks off tomorrow (Friday) at 6am. Are you ready? This is an intense day and is not for the faint of heart, but if you can hang on until 6am on Saturday you have the chance of experiencing some pretty cool happenings. I’ve put together a quick guide to the “do not miss” special offerings at this year’s Disneyland 24 hour event.
The first 2,000 people to arrive get a special “Rock Your Disney Side” lanyard. You can start lining up at 12am Friday morning outside the Esplanade. Click here for more guidelines about lining up and carpooling.
For this special event you can wear a costume inside Disneyland park, including masks which are otherwise never allowed. As long as your eyes are visible and your vision is not obstructed. Otherwise the regular dress code (no risque clothing, no obscene language or graphics, etc) will be enforced. Disney is encouraging a “Heroes & Villains” theme, if that helps you decide on a DisneyBound outfit!
Stop by the Esplanade in the morning to see a sand sculpture of Olaf and an original chalk art piece by Noah.
For grub, stop by Plaza Inn for Fried Chicken and Mickey Waffles, Rancho del Zocalo for Street Tacos, Village Haus for Pastrami Flatbread, and Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor for a Black and White Ice Cream Sandwich (ice cream served between two cookies). Click here to see all the special food offerings for this event.
For entertainment, catch a sing-a-long version of Frozen at the Muppet Theater in DCA (showing various times throughout the event) or the Avengers movie marathon at the Magic Eye Theater(aka Captain EO) in Tomorrowland at Disneyland. An official list has not been released, but keep an eye out for rarely seen characters, as they traditionally make appearances at these special 24 hour parties! (I would wager the Haunted Mansion bride and tightrope girl will be out at some point so check that area often.)
For late night partying, be sure to check out Fantasy Faire at night; rumor has it the place will be taken over by villains! There will also be a DJ spinning dance tunes at Sleeping Beauty’s Castle after the 9:25pm fireworks show, straight on ’til morning (5am). Tomorrowland Terrace will also have a live band rocking until 5am. There will also be a special showing of Fantasmic at 10:30pm and Mickey’s Soundsational Parade at 12:30am. Over at Disney California Adventure you can catch a special performance of World of Color at 3am (and special breakfasts at Wine Country Trattoria and Ariel’s Grotto for fastpass tickets) and dance with Mad T Party until 5am. Click here for the entire list of special entertainment events.
For merch, Disney is offering special event ears and also these “Heroes & Villains” shirts and pins. Also check out the Disneyana Shop in Disneyland or Off the Page in DCA for new special sketches debuting on May 23. Artists will also be on hand throughout the day to personalize your sketch. Click here for more information about special merchandise.
I recommend following the Twitter and Instagram hashtag #Disney24 to stay up to date with park news and find out what other guests are seeing and sharing. If you see something cool, don’t forget to share it because I will be experiencing this year’s 24 hour event via hashtag because I’m old and tired and cranky, y’all. Spending 24 hours awake ANYWHERE sounds like a mild form of torture to me.
Are you going to this year’s Rock Your Disney Side 24 hour event at Disneyland?
