“I felt a great disturbance in the force. As if millions of fan girls suddenly cried out.” That’s what Obi Wan likely would have said if he could have witnessed the launch of COVERGIRL’s Star Wars makeup collection, celebrating the release of The Force Awakens in theaters later this year. This isn’t COVERGIRL’s first foray into geek makeup (they had a Hunger Games line a couple years ago), but it may be their widest reaching special collaboration, considering SW:TFA is one of the most highly anticipated movies in our lifetime.
Makeup artist Pat McGrath designed a total of six beauty looks based on Star Wars characters to highlight the collection, three “light side” and three “dark side.” The two that have been released so far show a gold glittering droid and an edgy stormtrooper.
Announced for the limited edition collection so far are three nail polishes, six lipsticks, and 10 mascaras. As someone who doesn’t wear makeup often, I can’t imagine why someone needs 10 mascaras. But with names like “You Will Meet Your Destiny” and “Luminous Beings Are We,” I will likely buy them all.
The polishes are a little meh, but get a load of these metallic lipstick shades. Would you wear a gold lip to the grocery store??
The collection launches September 4 and should hit store shelves mid-September. Just in time for my birthday!
