If you’ve been following my travel adventures for a while, you know I’m a fan of cruising. Our last three cruises have been on Norwegian Cruise Line and there’s a reason: Their service is top-notch, the food is outstanding, and the destinations are plentiful. With Norwegian we have explored all over the Mediterranean, saw glaciers in Alaska, and island-hopped in Hawaii. But there is one destination I haven’t sailed to yet.
Many Caribbean Island nations have been in the news lately, after unfortunately being battered by strong hurricanes this summer. And while some places will be rebuilding for a while, there are still many islands open for tourism business. Now I’m making it a priority to visit this amazing area of the world sooner than later, and I’m doing a little bucket list research with the help of Norwegian Cruise Line’s destinations.
Wanderlust: 5 Caribbean Cruise Destinations on My Bucket List
Here’s what my dream Caribbean sailing would look like:
St. Kitts is located out in the eastern Caribbean and aside from beautiful sandy beaches and clear waters, the island features beautiful rainforest terrain, perfect for hiking or ziplining. (Image from St. Kitts Tourism)
St. Lucia is a little further south from St. Kitts and offers up the same beautiful scenery. Soak up the sun on the beach or lounge by a pool at a luxury resort. If you want a little more adventure, you can climb the famous Pitons mountains or visit the volcano at Sulfur Springs Park. (Image from StLucia.org)
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Punta Cana was hard hit by the hurricanes but is working quickly to rebuild. While Punta Cana has a lot of beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters, you can likely find me hanging out with the marine life at Dolphin Island. (Image from GoDominicanRepublic.com)
The popular Dutch island of Aruba is located off the coast of Venezuela and is well known for its scenic beaches. While there’s plenty to see and do on the island, this is where I just want to be dropped off on a secluded beach and left alone for a few hours. (Image from Aruba.com)
Bay Islands, Honduras
Technically part of Central America and pretty far from all of the islands above, but I’m including it on the list because this destination looks breathtaking. Since the islands lay alongside a barrier reef, snorkeling is a must. (Image from Honduras.com)
Have you ever visited the Caribbean? I’m itching to go! What islands do you love?
