Hello! Welcome to my Blogging and Income Report for August 2015. I know September is nearly over and my August report is dreadfully late. I’ve been having an extremely busy September but I want to make sure this gets posted before the month is over. August was another blah month for my blogs, but from talking with other bloggers I’m learning that summer tends to be slow for all of us. September’s revenue has actually been very kind to me, so I can’t wait to move along to that report! So I’ll quickly get through my blah August report so we can move onto happier news in September!
Blogging and Income Report – August 2015
Starting with my goals from the previous month. I didn’t really have any specific goals last month because I’ve been busy with my rebrand for mindyjoymedia.com, so aside from that I just focused on writing and increasing revenue. In mid-August I attended the D23 Expo and then came down with a nasty bug, so my month did not end strong. Sometimes you get sick and need to take a little break and recharge, and we can’t get too down on ourselves for that. I ended up bouncing back in September.
I’m down slightly from July, but just by 2% so nothing to sweat about. It would have been much lower except I had a post go a little viral at the end of the month. A lot of people must have been searching for information on Disneyland AP events, because a lot of people found my post via Google!
My top 5 referral sources were – Google, Direct traffic, Pinterest, Feedburner, and Yahoo. For the first time in memory, Pinterest slipped out of the top two, although just barely. I mentioned last month that I’m waiting for the traffic to drop after Pinterest’s algorithm changes so this is a little glimpse at that, although it’s not a major drop (yet).
I was also slightly down on IBD, by about 5%. My traffic kinda just bobbed along … nothing exciting to report.
No change in my referral sources – Pinterest, Google, Direct traffic, Feedburner/Pinterest, and old URL traffic.
Other August Happenings
In mid-August I attended the semi-annual D23 Expo in Anaheim. This is like San Diego Comic Con for us Disney nerds and it’s always an adventure. It’s three days of non-stop action … very fun but very overwhelming and exhausting. I ended up getting really sick towards the end of the month, which usually happens after I attend conventions. (My immune system is shot due to sensitive sinuses and years of smoking. Don’t smoke, kids!) I didn’t do much with my sites towards the end of August but ended up writing a ton of notes and ideas for the future while I was sick in bed. It’s a glamorous life, folks.
Here’s what I earned in August. I list the earnings by network, and then state the specific brands/shops in parenthesis. If I didn’t make any money through a specific affiliate channel, I will leave it off the list (all those zeros could get depressing)!
(Keep in mind this is just money I’m making through my websites. I also have a few other part time jobs which I am not including here.)

Total revenue for August 2015 = $366.31.
– Total revenue the previous month = $456.69.
– Difference: -$90.38
That’s enough to buy about 92 Disneyland churros! (Because I’m motivated by food, y’all.)
The summer slump continues with my fourth negative month in a row, womp womp. Luckily things picked up for September but it’s still a tough lesson to try to learn from. What can I do differently to have a stronger summer next year?
Things I need to work on:
Holiday season is creeping up, which is ALWAYS nutso. I need to have a strong September and October, try to get some gift guides done before people start online shopping, and get my mindyjoymedia.com site completed!
That’s it for now! Thank you for reading. Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll try my best to answer! I also would like to know if the information I’m providing is helpful or what else you would want to see/learn from an income report. Let me know how I can help you! Have a great month, everyone!
