Disney announced today that they will be hosting a 24 hour Disney Side party at both Disneyland in Anaheim, CA, and Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL, starting at 6am May 23, 2014, and ending 6am May 24, 2014. Disney’s first 24-hour party was on Leap Year Day in 2012, celebrating “one more Disney day.” The event was a huge success, drawing record breaking crowds and creating traffic jams all around Disneyland. A 24-hour event was also held last year in May 2013.
Disney used 140 “characters” forming the shape of a hashtag to make their announcement.
A unique aspect of this party is Disney is allowing guests to wear costumes. As a rule, costumes are not allowed inside the Disney Parks, as it can confuse guests or cause a disturbance. Looks like Disney is actually encouraging guests to Rock Your Disney Side during this 24-hour event.
From the official Disney site:
“From 6:00 AM to 6:00 AM, May 23 to May 24, 2014, you and your family are invited to dress up for the occasion and join a gathering of Disney heroes and villains for 24 hours of fun and follies—along with a selection of beloved attractions, popular shows and classic entertainment only Disney can bring to life.
Whether you make your way to the Theme Parks of Disneyland Resort in California or find yourself at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, you’re sure to enjoy a memory-making day and night that will go down in history as “wicked fun for everyone.”
So come as a prince, princess or pirate; a monster, a mermaid or even a Mad Hatter—whatever rocks your Disney Side!”
Will you be showing your #DisneySide for 24 hours this year?
