Lots and lots of couples who get married at Disney opt for their exclusive white chocolate castle wedding cake topper. It’s unique to Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings so it’s one of those items that is special and really states “this is a Disney wedding.” My husband and I had the chocolate castle cake topper for our Disneyland wedding and decided to preserve ours by spraying it with polyurethane and keeping it in an acrylic display case. But it has become one of those things that we have to lug around when we move and find space to display, and despite the spray down it’s starting to discolor and, well, it’s just plain weird to keep a giant chocolate castle on display in your home. I wish we had done what Stefanie and Wagner did! After keeping their castle for a year and not really sure what to do with it, they decided to melt it down into fondue during their one year anniversary celebration.

From Stefanie: On May 18, 2013, Wagner and I were married at the Disney resort. I could not resist adding on the white chocolate castle as a cake topper. It is so beautiful and detailed, I had to have that item in our fairytale wedding. Once the festivities were over, we definitely couldn’t just throw it away and were so full from everything, we didn’t want to eat it. Since we were unsure of what to do with the castle, we decided to freeze it along with our cake. Time passed, and we still did not know what to do with the castle. As our one year anniversary approached, we talked about how it would be really nice to celebrate with the people who stood by us on our wedding day. That’s when the light-bulb went off. We decided to melt the castle for fondue and have a potluck fondue party! I looked up recipes for slow cooker chocolate fondue online to be sure we prepared this the right way. It was very easy to melt down. I made a second batch of milk chocolate fondue just in case a hunk of chocolate that spent a year in the freezer didn’t taste so good. But alas, the melted castle was AMAZING. Everyone of our friends brought something to dip. We had – fruit, frozen cheesecake, pretzels, bacon, and potato chips. We even had appetizers to munch on also. After we fully gorged ourselves, we all sat down and watched snippets from our wedding video. While it was a little sad to see the castle transform to liquid, it was a very fun and special time spent with friends.
