Disneyland Bachelorette Party

I recently realized I made a terrible mistake! In the months leading up to my own wedding two years ago, I inadvertently omitted blogging about my friend Wendy’s Disneyland bachlorette party we threw for her. I remembered to share her engagement photos and her wedding photos, but somehow let this event slip by. I’m feeling like a horrible friend right now, so hopefully she can forgive me! This was such a fun idea for a Disney style bachlorette party so I want to make sure I write about our fun day celebrating the fabulousness that is Wendy so others can be inspired by it!

Actually what made me think of it was going to Ariel’s Grotto with my extended family and nieces over Spring Break. The last time I ate at Ariel’s Grotto was for Wendy’s bachlorette party. It’s tough to tell who was more excited to meet the princesses – my two toddler nieces or a table of 20 and 30 something women.

I want to thank my friend and fellow Disney bride Hope for providing these pictures, since I was actually quite distracted that day (during the afternoon I took my bridal portraits) and didn’t take too many of my own photos. Sorry they are so tiny but I figured small images are better than no images!

So let me first talk about how the day got started. This was our third bachlorette party thrown amongst our group. The first was Nerissa’s party in September 2011 and the second was my own in March 2012. Then the next month was our party for Wendy! For Nerissa we did clues and a scavenger hunt and we returned to that idea for Wendy. We made clue cards on Princess postcards (I think!) and tied them together with a ribbon. I had a hotel room for that night because I was taking bridal portraits so we decided to have Wendy’s party on that weekend so we could take advantage of the hotel room and have a Disney style slumber party! Our little group was myself, Wendy, Hope, and Nerissa. Sadly Becca couldn’t make it due to other commitments and our friends Jenn and Courtney from up in Northern California couldn’t come down but they sent gifts and helped with the costs!

Hope was the main creative mastermind of the group and most of the clever, fun things you see here were either her idea or created by her or both. She kicked off the celebration by sending Wendy a princess themed invite to give her an idea of what type of party was in store.

It reads, “It’s a Royal Bachelorette Celebration! In honor of Princess Wendy. Before you become a spouse, the Disneyland Brides invite you to a final romp and sleepover at the house of mouse! Saturday April 7, 2012 Disneyland Hotel Lobby. A full day of Wenderful events await, don your finest Disney Princess top and let’s celebrate!”

We all wore princess tops to celebrate Wendy’s princess bachelorette day (funny how we all already had them in our closets).

Nerissa nabbed “I’m Celebrating” buttons and personalized them for the event, and picked up a special tiara for Princess Wendy. She also got smaller tiaras and princess wands for the group.

We met up in the lobby of the Disneyland Hotel and gave Wendy her first princess card clue: “A princess celebration makes me giddy like a jelly, but it can’t be started on an empty belly. No need to point your fins to the sea, come to DCA and have lunch with me” (for Ariel’s card)

Wendy figured out that our first stop was Ariel’s Grotto for lunch! Of course we had to go have a meet and greet with our fellow princesses.

After lunch we returned to the hotel to check in and so I could take my portraits (and we could also cool off from the heat). The ladies helped me get into my wedding dress for the shoot and it was one of my favorite memories, ever. I told them I didn’t want to take anything away from Wendy’s day and they didn’t have to help me, but it seemed like they all wanted too and my heart overflowed with joy. I love this picture taken by Jenna at White Rabbit Photo Boutique of the ladies helping (figuring out) how to lace up and tie my corset.

While I stayed and did my portraits, the ladies continued on their scavenger hunt. I was sad to miss it! The clues led them went back into Disney California Adventure to meet with Duffy (although he wasn’t out so they did the next best thing).

Then they were led into Disneyland where clues led Wendy to her proposal spot, Haunted Mansion, the Winnie the Pooh ride, and Pixie Hollow, all special spots for Wendy.

At this point I was able to meet back up with everyone just in time for the final clue and location – ElecTRONica at DCA. We got drinks and danced until they closed down for the night.

We had danced off our big lunch so we headed back to The Disneyland Hotel and Trader Sams for late night snacks and drinks.

After dinner we went back up to the room and changed into our jammy jams for presents, pink champagne, and Disney card games! All the gifts were great but the best was custom undies from Hope that read “Practically Perfect in Every Way.” Haha!

We stayed up way too late like silly school girls and basically had a wonderful time.

The following morning we had breakfast at Steakhouse 55 (best breakfast at the Resort) and went back to the room to check out. Sniff sniff, our wonderful weekend was over!

I always have the best time with these ladies. We sadly celebrated our last bachlorette party in August 2013 for Becca. Now we need to find new reasons to celebrate (and I don’t mean baby showers)!
