I have been a big fan of Redbubble for a while. I love that they support independent artists, provide a wide array of products (from shirts, to stickers, to posters, to phone cases), and most of all because they have a lot of DISNEY art! The art isn’t licensed by Disney, but rather fan art based on Disney characters, lyrics, and philosophy. Some of the Disney fan art is … how should I put it … rather inappropriate. If you can filter through the weirdness, you will find some amazing gems.
(On a related note, I have often wondered how artists can use Disney characters and images in their own art and make money off it, so I did a little research. I found this great post on LegalZoom discussing “Fair Use” and “Derivative Works” as it relates specifically to Disney.)
I recently had the opportunity to test out Redbubble‘s user experience and products and I’m very happy with my items.
Unique Disney Art from Redbubble
First I want to go through how Redbubble works!
There are quite literally thousands and thousands of art pieces on Redbubble, so I recommend starting with a topic of interest to help narrow down your choices. I searched for Disney (see image above), and as you can see in the below image, Redbubblereturned over 10,000 works of art!
As much as I wish I had the time to scroll through all 11,270 results for “everything Disney,” I had to narrow down my search further. So next I searched for “Mulan,” which returned 164 results. That’s a little easier to sort through!
There were dozens of great Mulan designs and I had a really tough time narrowing it down to just one. Ultimately I decided on this art by “Spellbending” simply titled Mulan. I ordered the 4×6 postcard which will be perfect to hang on my wall with the rest of my Mulan art.
Next I specifically searched for an iPhone case to replace my recently cracked case. At first I was looking only at the Mulan art, but then I decided to review all the Mickey art because you know I’m all about the mouse ears. Wouldn’t you know it, I found the perfect piece of art called “My Heart Has Ears.” YOU GUYS, how PERFECT is that for me?!?
I ordered the Deflector case, and in hindsight I wish I had splurged for the Capsule case so the front of my phone has a little more protection. That being said, the case is really great quality and I’ve already dropped it a few times (I’m really clumsy with my phone) and there isn’t a crack or even a scratch anywhere on the case or the screen.
The artist is Angela from “SweetSisters” and it looks like she makes a ton of cute Disney art, even custom items! That’s another perk of Redbubble … not only can you buy cute, unique items but you also discover new artists. I love that Redbubble is a platform for creativity and a way for new artists to get their work discovered.
I love my Redbubble pieces, especially the phone case. I can’t even tell you how many compliments I’ve received in the short time I have owned it!
If you’re looking for a unique gift for the Disney lovers in your life, or even just something special for you, I really recommend checking out Redbubble. Oh, and aside from Disney, Redbubble also features art representing just about everything else in the universe. If there’s a fandom for it, it’s on Redbubble.
