As I was punching paper for Tuesday’s Mickey Confetti post, I had a big time brain storm! I bought this little tree at Trader Joes over the weekend and even though it has some sparklies on it, I thought it seemed a little bare. As I was looking at my pile of gold and silver Mickeys I thought – OH BOY! How about a tiny Mickey garland? I quickly busted out some green thread and some glue and got to work.
Supplies:
Mini Mickey paper punch
Gold and Silver foil paper (or desired colors)
Green knitting thread
All purpose glue (do not use super glue)
Step 1: Punch out a few Mickeys.
Step 2: Measure the thread wrapped around your mini tree and then cut the desired length.
Step 3: Put a dab of glue on one side of a Mickey punch. Just the smallest dab needed!
Step 4: Place the Mickey punch on the yarn. Be sure to protect your work surface with a piece of paper or a tissue.
Step 5: Repeat! Every now and then, lift up your garland to make sure the glue isn’t sticking to your work surface.
Step 6: Wait about an hour for your garland to dry. Then wrap the garland around your little tree. How pretty!
I made a star topper by cutting a “rainbow” shape from the gold foil paper and folding it into a cone shape. Then I used a star punch with the foil paper and glued the star to the cone.
Pretty stinkin’ adorable if I do say so myself!
