One of the well-known perks of a Disney Parks visit is picking up one of their free buttons. The free buttons celebrate everything from birthdays to first visits to graduations to weddings, and for everything in-between there’s the generic “I’m Celebrating” button. I have a HUGE collection of all my birthday buttons throughout the years (yes, I’m quite old) and I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of them – they are so special to me.
A few days ago, @DLThings on Twitter shared an image of new Disney Parks button designs. There has been no official announcement from Disney, but I have reasons to believe this is legit. A while back, the Just Married and Just Engaged buttons started disappearing. I asked a Cast Member about this and was told the buttons were going to be redesigned to be more inclusive for same-sex couples. Naturally I’m all for this idea.
Based on this image, it appears the Just Married and Happy Anniversary buttons (and the Just Engaged designed, which isn’t pictured here) are being streamlined into one design, reading “Happily Ever After.”
The Happy Birthday, I’m Celebrating, and 1st Visit buttons are all receiving fresh new designs. It has been a very long time since the buttons were redesigned, so I welcome the change. I can’t wait to get my new birthday button when I visit later in the year!
Also of note – the Family Reunion button from Walt Disney World is being discontinued, and Disneyland’s Just Graduated and Honorary Citizen of Disneyland buttons are not changing.
If you’re bummed about the removal of the Just Engaged, Just Married and Happy Anniversary buttons, there are a lot of shops on Etsy where you can customize your own buttons. Here are a few of my favorites:
