Florence is one of the stops on our honeymoon cruise that I’m very excited about, and now that it’s our second stop, I really hope I’m fully recovered from jet lag to enjoy it. In a teary moment of anxiety, we (*ahem,* I) made the decision to join our ship’s tour for “Florence on Your Own,” which means we paid way too much for seats on our ship’s shuttle bus for the one hour travel from the port into Florence and back again. We are using public transportation in the ports before and after this one, so I decided it was worth spending the extra money to be brain-dead about our travel for one day. I love when I don’t have to think too hard.
My friend Chandra of Oh Lovely Day visited all over Italy during their own honeymoon and said a stop to the restaurant Il Gatto e La Volpe is a must. I did some research and now I’m HANGRY. All of this in my mouth, please.
Chandra also recommended a stop at the Ponte Vecchio, a romantic bridge where lovers are fabled to leave padlocks attached to the bridge and throw the key in the river. I’m not sure we will take the risk for the hefty fine involved if you are caught, but it seems like a romantic spot to visit.
My friend Heather told me the Boboli Gardens is worth a visit, and after researching some pictures, I can’t say I disagree.
