When I saw these cute Snow White inspired welcome packets made by Disney Bride Rebecca, I knew I had to feature them!  Luckily Rebecca was kind enough to write up a tutorial for us.  Rebecca made these cards and envelopes to hold important papers that needed to be included in her guests’ welcome bags.  This is a really clever and simple way to add a subtle Disney touch to your welcome bags.

Mike proposed to me day after Christmas 2011. I had already been to a Disney wedding a couple months prior and just knew I had to have one myself!! Since we live in Virginia (he’s military and I’m a contract worker for the military) and our families are in California and Pennsylvania, we figured a destination wedding would be the best way to bring everyone together. I have been a huge fan of Disney since childhood and Mike is coming around!  He lived near Disneyland growing up but had never been to Walt Disney World until our Planning Session for the wedding.
I wasn’t sure what theme to go with until I found the Ever After Printables shop. I saw her Snow White invites and knew that this was the theme for us! We watch Once Upon A Time every week and when he proposed in the depths of winter, I looked off to the side and saw a bunch of bluebirds right in the middle of the park. A beautiful random spotting of color. It seemed appropriate then to go with Snow White.
We’re doing a Wishes wedding and I have a relatively small budget so I’m trying to do a lot of the things myself. I’ve challenged myself to use a coupon or discount of some sort for everything I get, including our wedding rings!! I’ve even sold old textbooks to Barnes & Noble, had a yard sale, sold some of my handbags  and used Ebates when ordering online in order to earn “free” money towards my wedding costs.  The same goes for our DIY welcome packets!

I bought smaller Kraft bags for our welcome bags. As such, there was no way I was going to be able to fit a regular sized folder into it, but I still had a few smaller paper items I didn’t want to get lost in the bottom of the bags. So I went searching for something that would fit the bill. Hobby Lobby happened to be having a sale on their cards so I found Canvas Home Basics’ “Skinny Cards” on sale for a great deal! (Find similar cards here and envelopes here.) I also got at Hobby Lobby: Tsukineko’s Sheer Shimmer Spritz, a rubber stamp with a fairytale quote, and an Embossing Stamp Pad. I then found a punch of an apple and glitter ribbon tape at a different store. I have had the gold embossing powder and heat tool for a while so those didn’t cost anything. I got most of my supplies on sale or used coupons so everything was a great deal!

I eyeballed the distance I wanted the glitter strips from one another, cut them to fit the width of the card and cut three pieces in Snow White’s signature colors (red, blue, and gold). I then used the first card to mark on subsequent cards where the tape should go. I then punched apples out of red cardstock and glued it 3.5 inches from the top of the card and centered. I then used one of Martha Stewart’s alphabet stamp kits and centered our initials so the apple would fit in the middle. I used embossing ink to stamp the initials on, sprinkeled it with gold embossing powder and then used the heat tool to heat it. It’s simple but yet makes a statement, I think.

For the envelope, I started out by spraying the envelope with the “sparkle” shimmer spritz. Don’t be afraid to use this spray – it gives a subtle shimmer that doesn’t seem to transfer off onto skin or clothing. Once dry, I used my favorite fairytale stamp (I stalked Hobby Lobby for almost a month until it was restocked) with the embossing ink pad. I then sprinkled it with the gold embossing powder and heated it with the heat tool.

All in all, this was a fairly simple project that I think looks great! I think it lends a subtle nod to the theme without overwhelming all the male guests with princess stuff.
Thank you Rebecca, and good luck with the rest of your wedding planning!

What do you think of Rebecca’s welcome packets?  Super clever, no?  How would you personalize these to fit your favorite princess?  Also, I need to get me some shimmer spray, STAT!
