Where to Find Disney Wedding Communities

One of the best things about getting married at Disney is making new friends! We all have a special bond of getting married at the Happiest Places on Earth and it can lead to fast friendship, both online and real life (the above image is from a recent Disney Brides and Grooms meet up at Disneyland). I can proudly say right now that my closest friends are ones I have met because of my Disney wedding. Sometimes you just need to chat with people who “get” what you’re going through, and there is nothing better than having a community to lean on. I really can’t think of any other wedding venue who has the type of support system that Disney Brides and Grooms have! I’ve always said, Disney people are the best people.

If you are looking to bond with the Disney wedding community, there are several ways to do so!

Just Engaged

If you are curious about Disney weddings but you aren’t engaged yet, or you are just engaged and are simply trying to see if a Disney wedding could be right for you, here are some resources:

The official Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings website has been recently updated with tons of new information about locations, options, and pricing. This is honestly the best place to start to get basic information. You can also call DFTW directly via the phone number on their website.

There are several fan blogs who provide information about Disney weddings (including this one)!

Magical Day Weddings – A fan blog about all kinds of Disney weddings, including a recap of Carly’s own WDW wedding (blog closed but some great articles are still available).
Disney Wedding Podcast – A weekly show hosted by WDW bride, Carrie, providing wedding tips and interviews with real Disney brides and grooms.
Disney Travel Babble – Carrie’s website, with recaps of her WDW wedding and Aulani vow renewal!
Fairytale Weddings Guide – Written by Carrie, this is the ultimate unofficial guide to getting married at Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, or honeymooning at either spot.
Married at Disneyland – I started the Married at Disneyland website as a one-stop-site for all information about Disneyland weddings. There is also a corresponding Facebook group that anyone can join!

If you have any questions at all about planning a Disney wedding, feel free to reach out to me via email. I LOVE hearing from you and I LOVE talking about Disney weddings! I obviously cannot provide you with official information – only Disney can do that – but will try to help the best I can.

Finally, the largest and probably most popular forum for the Disney Wedding community is on the DisBoards. The DisBoards has a “Disney Weddings and Honeymoon” section. All you need to do is create an account with DisBoards and start posting! The DisBoards was my first avenue into the online Disney wedding community, and while I’m not very active there anymore, I’m still Facebook friends with a lot of the people I first chatted with years ago. One thing you should know about the DisBoards is that it is a public forum – meaning anyone with Internet connection can pull it up and read it (but you have to have an account to make a post). So keep this in mind; it may not be the best place to post pictures of your wedding gown or rant about your mother-in-law!

During Wedding Planning

These are groups to turn to when you’re just starting to dive into your planning and have a million questions, or you’re in the thick of it and need some support!

If you’re looking for a more private forum than DisBoards, check out DisneyBrides.com. DisneyBrides.com is a much smaller community, but it’s private and very friendly. The admin is a close friend of mine, and her love for everyone’s Disney weddings is genuine. You do have to be actively planning, or recently had, a Disney wedding to join (which is different than DisBoards, where anyone can create an account). I really love this community so please check it out if you are currently planning a Disney wedding!

DISBrides* – The DISBrides Facebook group is for ALL Disney brides and grooms! Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and at-home Disney weddings. You must be under contract with Disney, have an account on DisBoards and be an active member of the forum to be a member of the private DisBrides community on Facebook. But, all that is totally easy and worth it! This is a great group of supportive brides and grooms and I’m proud to be an original member of the DisBrides group.

*This term has now been trademarked so the name of this group may eventually change. Keep an eye on this page for updates.

Disney Brides Discussion Club – A great Facebook Group to discuss all things Disney weddings!

Weddings at Disneyland – This Facebook group is just for couples getting married at The Disneyland Resort!

After the Wedding

DISWives – This is a subgroup of the original DisBrides group, set up to chat and share about life post-weddings. (Because life goes on after the wedding day is over … who knew?!)

These communities are a great place to start! Feel free to join, introduce yourself, ask and answer questions, and above all, be kind and helpful to one another. ALL Disney weddings are wonderful and beautiful!
