I attended this hosted media event as a guest of Disney. All opinions are my own. This article contains affiliate links.
Last week I was lucky enough to attend the launch party for a new mobile app/game Disney Interactive recently developed called Disney Enchanted Tales. This was my first time attending an event for Disney Interactive so I was very excited to see what was in store for us. All I knew was we would be attending a tea party and previewing the game. But the game and the party ended up being beyond anything I could have imagined!
Myself and the other guests were welcomed into a room fit for a princess – literally! The first thing we saw was four tables themed to a specific princess – Rapunzel, Belle, Elsa, and Anna. Each table had all the fixings for a proper tea, and the centerpiece of each table depicted pictures of the princesses and a tower of mini cakes. It was a princess party dream come true! And don’t you think these tables would be so beautiful at a Disney wedding or even a Disney bridal shower?
And of course there was food! So much food! There were tea sandwiches, salads, scones, and desserts. My favorite was the spongecake with delicious fruit and cream filling. The Disney chefs even managed to create the shape of their iconic “D” logo on top of the cake with powdered sugar.
Thank you Disney for including gluten-free options!
Servers were on hand to help us select and pour our tea, and also replenish glasses of lemonade or iced tea. It was typical Disney top-notch service! We really were treated like royalty!
While we were eating lunch, we had two game developers, Jennifer and Jon, tell us a little bit about Disney Enchanted Tales. The game is reminiscent of a city-building game, where you complete quests to obtain items and unlock new features and characters. The fun part is, this game uses Disney stories, of course! At the beginning of the game you can choose Tangled, Beauty and the Beast, or Frozen as your starter story. As you complete quests you level up, and eventually you can add new stories to your “quilt.”
The developers talked about how they had to take iconic Disney movies and translate them into a mobile gaming world. It had to make sense for the stories to appear together in the same world, and even interact with each other sometimes! That’s when Disney came up with the idea for the quilt. As you’ll see in the opening sequence once downloading the app, you’re actually creating a world within a dream. The Fairy Godmother acts as our guide throughout the game, and she ties all the stories together. It’s so clever!
Once the presentation was over, we all had a chance to play the game on big-screen displays. I didn’t quite know what I was doing but I fell in love with the game instantly! The character design is so cute, and the detail in the game is amazing! We were told the game had been in development for a year and a half – wow! The hard work really shows in the end result; it’s a beautiful game.
As if we didn’t have enough royal treatment already, they also had nail stations with Disney Jamberry nail wraps and Disney artists on hand to custom draw portraits of princesses for us to take home! I had a special request for my portrait … I asked if they could draw Mulan even though she isn’t in the game. Disney is in the business of making dreams come true so I got my new Mulan pencil drawing to hang up on my wall with the rest of my Mulan art! (Hopefully Mulan will be added to the game someday!)

I’ve been playing for four days and I’m completely hooked. Disney Enchanted Tales is SO fun. I admit I get hooked on these city-building games from time to time, but this one is the best one I’ve played so far because it’s DISNEY!
Keep an eye on the blog because I’ll be posting a tutorial on how to play Disney Enchanted Tales and what tricks and tips I’ve learned so far. But if you want to get started, by all means, don’t wait for me! The game itself has a very extensive tutorial at the beginning which will get you going in no time.
Disney Enchanted Tales is available to download now for free (with optional in-app purchases) on iOS and Android.
I want to thank Disney Interactive for inviting me to their event and making me a princess for a day! I had a great time!
