Hello! Welcome to my Blogging and Income Report for May 2016! I’m getting back into the swing of things after my summer vacation. This was the first time I’ve taken a vacation but felt really good about the way my business is set up and automated. I *almost* feel like I know what I’m doing! It only took five years or so.

Blogging and Income Report – May 2016

Overall I feel like I had a really solid month. I published 16 posts and both my numbers and revenue held steady. Of course I want to always be trending upward but all things considered I feel like May was a decent month.

Numbers

After dipping a bit in April, it’s nice to see my numbers back in the green.

Blogging and Income Report - May 2016

My top referral sources for May – Google, Pinterest, Direct traffic, Facebook, and old URL traffic. My direct traffic took a dive and my Pinterest soared; I think that’s residual from the reporting problems Pinterest was having in March and April.

Other May Happenings

May was slightly insane. It started with the Tink 10k, then Chicago for the Shareasale ThinkTank, then NYC for a wedding, then back home for a week, then off to Hawaii. Even with all that madness, I think the blog held up pretty well.

Monetizing

Here’s what I earned in May 2016. I list the earnings by network, and then state the specific brands/shops in parenthesis. If I didn’t make any money through a specific affiliate channel, I will leave it off the list (all those zeros could get depressing)!

(Keep in mind this is just money I’m making through my websites. I also have a few other part time jobs which I am not including here.)

Ad Networks

Google Adsense – $56.80
Media.Net – $0.05 (I have no idea why since I didn’t think I was running their ads right now.)
PadSquad – $143.61

Brand Campaigns

Sponsored Content – $25

Affiliates (some of the links below contain my affiliate code)

Amazon – $66.97
ShopSense – $17.09
Share-a-Sale – $99.90 (Wayfair, Modcloth)
Affiliate Window – $494.60 (Etsy)

Total revenue for May 2016 = $904.02.
– Total revenue the previous month = $993.34.
– Difference: -$89.32

Even though I dipped a bit compared to April, I’m happy with these numbers. Etsy continues to do really well for me, although I will say I’m currently trending below this for June. (Spoiler alert.)

Things I need to work on:

By now June is half over and I’ve been assessing my goals for the year, and it’s not pretty. I set some lofty goals for 2016 and most of them have fallen by the wayside. For the rest of June and into July, I’ll be re-evaluating my business goals and seeing what I can get done before December.

I also am toying with the idea of changing up my blog layout a little bit. I may ditch the sidebar (which only shows up on desktop anyway, which is only 40% of my traffic) in favor of more articles showing on the front page. I also want to research and experiment with different advertising banners.

That’s it for now! Thank you for reading. Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll try my best to answer! I also would like to know if the information I’m providing is helpful or what else you would want to see/learn from an income report. Let me know how I can help you! Have a great month, everyone!
