Thanks to Kia Motors for allowing me to test drive the 2015 Kia Forte EX. All opinions are my own. #DriveKia
When Mr. BFT and I were planning a little road trip up the California coast, I began to worry about our cars. We both drive cars that are over 10 years old, and while they are reliable and perfectly functional, neither of them are used to road trip level endurance. I remember driving to Phoenix around this same time last year, and my car barely held on for the six hour drive in 100+ degree heat! So I was stoked when I was able to connect with Kia Motors and arrange a week long lease of their 2015 Kia Forte EX. Thank you, Kia!
I’ll do a more in-depth review of all our stops along the California coast (just add it to the trip report list! *faints*), but we made stops in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Pacific Grove, Monterey Bay, and Big Sur. We ate along the beach with our toes in the sand, stayed overnight at the famous Madonna Inn, visited wineries, saw wild otters in the waters just outside the Monterey Bay aquarium, roasted marshmallows outside our own private cabin in the woods, and most importantly, got a tour of my little brother’s new college campus at CSU Monterey Bay! So proud of him!
As I stated earlier, I’m used to driving a sedan that is over 10 years old so driving this new 2015 Kia Forte was a little bit like operating a spaceship. All week I kept referring to it as “our spaceship car.” A lot of the standard features in the Kia Forte were mind-blowing to me, such as the SiriusXM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port, and volume controls in the steering wheel. But because our Kia was fully loaded, we also had a sunroof, GPS, heated/cooled seats, and a rear camera display, which is great for me because I’m ALWAYS paranoid I’m going to hit something when I’m pulling out of a parking spot or trying to parallel park. The Driver Seat Memory was also really handy for a road trip – Mr. BFT and I adjusted the driver seat the way we liked it, and then saved it. With the press of a button, the seat would adjust back and forth between our two settings – AMAZING!
As far as drive-ability, the Kia Forte was super smooth and had really responsive breaks. Those twists and turns along Highway 1 are not for the faint of heart, but I felt completely safe in the Kia. Best of all is the price … the Kia Forte starts at $15,890. A great price for A LOT of car. I really enjoyed driving it. (I admit I was slightly terrified at first, with all the intimidating features – but I got used to it rather quickly!)

Thank you again to Kia Motors for giving me the chance to experience a little bit of luxury on our road trip!
